Preparing for the Kling 4.0 API
Updated 2026-10-02
You cannot call Kling 4.0 yet, but you can make sure adopting it takes minutes.
1. Keep the model id in config
Never hard-code kling-v3.0-pro across your codebase. A single setting means the migration is a deploy, not a refactor.
2. Don't assume clip length
Kling 3.0 tops out at 15 seconds; 4.0 is reported at 30. Read the maximum duration from configuration per model.
3. Record a baseline
Save prompts, outputs and the per-second price you paid on Kling v3 today. On release day, replay the same prompts on 4.0 and compare quality and cost directly.
4. Keep a fallback
New models launch with limited capacity. Keep v3 (or another model) as a failover target — unpinned VideoRouter requests do this automatically across hosts.
Start with the quickstart, and see the live Kling v3 prices.
VideoRouter puts it next to dozens of other video and image models behind one API key, so you can compare providers, prices and fail over automatically. Compare providers on VideoRouter →
